Affordability Index

NOVA Idaho’s Affordability Index tracks how legislators voted on policies that directly affect Idahoans’ ability to make ends meet. Of the more than 800 bills introduced this session, only 24 addressed affordability, and not all in ways that improve it. NOVA Idaho examined bills in the following areas that drive affordability-

  • Tax Cuts & Budget Cuts

  • Housing

  • Childcare

  • Healthcare

  • Food Access

  • Education

How the Index Was Measured

For each bill, NOVA Idaho established a position of SUPPORT for bills that would improve affordability or OPPOSE if the bill would worsen affordability. Legislators were score on how their votes matched NOVA Idaho’s positions. A score of 100% meant legislators voted in complete agreement, 0% meant no agreement.

  • 15 of 105 legislators scored 80% or higher

  • 61 of 105 legislators scored 50% or lower
